Nickelson joins Santa Cruz County Bank's board
March 21, 2012

By Eli Segall - Silicon Valley / San Jose Business Journal

A veteran Surf City banking executive has joined the board of directors at Santa Cruz County Bank.

Harvey Nickelson was appointed to the board of the Santa Cruz-based business lender, the bank announced Wednesday. He replaces Steve John, who is expected to leave the board in May due to his new position as CEO of the Monterey Peninsula Foundation, the nonprofit group that stages the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am golf tournament.

Nickelson was the founding CEO of Santa Cruz-based Coast Commercial Bank, which was later acquired by Greater Bay Bancorp, a Bay Area community bank holding company. Greater Bay was itself acquired in 2007, by San Francisco’s Wells Fargo & Co.

Coast Commercial was formed in 1982. Nickelson served as president and CEO until 2003, and then worked as a marketing and public relations consultant for Greater Bay.

Santa Cruz County Bank (OTCBB:SCZC), founded in 2004, has $320 million of assets and five branches.
